Kicking off Shark Week!
This week we will discover the world of sharks. Yesterday, we began our research on Tiger Sharks. We read Tiger Sharks, a nonfiction texts to gather facts. We also watched Jonathan Bird's Blue World documentary on Tiger Sharks.
During Writer's Workshop we worked on a factual, description piece and put our use of adjectives to work!
Today, we read I Am A Shark, reviewed the difference between Facts and Opinions, and learned more about the Bull Shark! We also watched Jonathan Bird's Blue World and learned that Bull Sharks are thought to be more fierce than the Great White!
During Writer's Workshop, the kiddos worked on some more opinion writing. Today's topic: "Which do you like more: a dolphin or a shark?" The students had to voice their opinion and then support it with details. Most of us are writing three to four sentences when given a topic. They are so amazing!
